Community Centre Theatre Hall

This community centre located in Brantford was giving its theatre hall an update and wanted the room to feel more professional and high-class.

Clients’ Wishes

All walls in this theatre hall were to be repainted to the colour scheme chosen by the community centre. The original colours were a pinky-beige that looked too “normal”, requiring an update! The ceiling in this roughly 2500 square foot hall was all exposed wood rafters and beams. The original wood construction was visible. The clients wanted the ceiling sprayed black. This would give the room a more professional look with regards to production and film and help with lighting and ambience in the room.

What We Did

This large room with a 20+ foot tall ceiling required special equipment to complete the job as required. Walls were painted as usual, but the ceiling was a whole different animal! We sprayed the ceiling with black paint as instructed. In order to complete this job, we brought in multiple tiers of scaffolding. Scaffolding was on wheels allowing us to easily traverse the hall. We spent an entire day prepping the room for paint, wrapping all exposed lighting, ventilation, sensors and fire alarms with plastic to protect them from overspray. We also covered the entire floor with card, taped down to protect it from falling sprayed paint particles. The ceilings were sprayed in sections until completed. We then must take down all plastic. Between scaffolding, extension ladders and 12-foot step ladders, we have the equipment to complete your similar job.
